[Feature] Option for automatic display of timeline events (without click)
Problem:
In the current Timeline widget, each event must be clicked manually for its associated content (text/image) to appear.
This interaction pattern is not ideal for all learning scenarios — especially in linear or narrative timelines, repeated clicking can be distracting and offers little didactic value.Suggestion:
Add an option in the Captivate GUI and in thedesignOption.jsonto control the behavior:
- Manual (current behavior): The user clicks each event to reveal its content.
- Automatic: The content is always visible.
- For better user experience: The content appears with a smooth fade-in or motion animation when the event…1 vote -
[Feature] New Widget for Expandable Single Sections (Disclosure / Details)
Background:
On longpages or compact content layouts, there is often a need for expandable single sections for supplementary content such as transcripts, glossaries, or additional information. An accordion widget is overkill for this purpose, as it requires multiple tabs and semantically implies a group behavior.Problem:
- The Accordion widget cannot currently be reduced to a single tab.
- Using a "pseudo-accordion" with only one panel is semantically incorrect and may negatively impact accessibility and user orientation.
- There is no dedicated widget to toggle individual content sections, making implementation cumbersome.Suggestion:
A dedicated widget based on the established HTML5 …1 vote -

The new Adobe Captivate version does not allow placing objects in a custom order. It only supports drag-and-drop using predefined templates. For example, if we need to position titles, images, icons, or buttons freely on the slide, this flexibility is missing. Currently, all custom design options are limited, forcing us to use only what Captivate provides.

Add checkboxes with Select All or Deselect All when editing Table of Contents
When creating courses in Captivate, we often have over 100 slides, but we only want our users to have access to maybe 10 in the Table of Contents. In Captivate 12.6, I have to deselect each slide which is obnoxiously time consuming. The "eye" icon action should be replaced with check boxes with "Select All" or "Deselect All" options at the top.

Text Drag and Drop
I don't use the drag and drop because currently it is only for pictures. Would be nice to have the ability to have learners drag and drop text to other text.

Allow you to mute project audio on specific slides
When I add background audio to the entire project I cannot stop it from playing on slides that have a video or video grid so you get the music and the video audio. The only way to get around this is to remove the background audio completely. Would be nice to add a feature in the audio tab on the slide to stop the music from playing entirely just on that slide.

The new Adobe Captivate version does not support adding custom navigation elements like in the Classic version. Currently, the header and footer only allow limited customization—such as displaying the course name, page number, and TOC. There is no option to globally add essential navigation buttons like Back, Next, Glossary, or Resources across the course design. This limitation significantly impacts the flexibility and user experience of eLearning modules. Please consider reintroducing the ability to create and apply custom navigation players, as available in Adobe Captivate Classic.

[Bug] Selected tab loses highlight when widget loses focus
When the Tabs widget loses focus, the selected tab is no longer highlighted. The active state should remain visible so users don’t lose orientation.

Improve documentation for design options
The design options concept is the most powerful feature in Captivate 12 and the key to building custom layouts. However, documentation is very limited. It is often unclear which JSON properties are actually supported for each widget, and many entries defined in the JSON are not transformed by Captivate.
Suggested improvement:
- Provide an example.json file for every widget, showing all possible properties (“grammar”) of the design options.
- Especially for more complex widgets (accordion, tabs, carousel, etc.), this would help developers understand what can be customized.
- Include notes for properties that are not yet transformed but are planned…1 vote -
Simulation Blur Area Enhancements
In software simulations where private information is consistently visible (ex: Financial Institutions, Healthcare Systems, etc.), it is difficult to make the sizing of blur areas consistent across slides in Assessment & Training Software Simulations. This could be distracting for end users, and doesn't enable the quality I'd like to deliver. Can you add the ability to copy/paste these blocks, input pixel measurements, or some kind of setting to allow the blur to appear on subsequent slides?

Add support for smart quotes when typing text
When typing quotes in Captivate 12.6, all single and double quotation marks appear as "straight quotes" or "typewriter quotes." Improve the readability and display of text typed directly into captivate by automatically converting these punctuation marks into “curly” quotes (also known as ‘smart’ quotes).
While it is possible to insert the improved “smart” quotes by copying and pasting from a word processor (e.g., Microsoft Word), it is not always convenient to copy and paste text from another document when authoring a course directly in Captivate. Additionally, quoted text built into the software by default (for example: Select "Next" or press…

Add a completion dialog to the "Remove Unused Items" function
The option "Remove Unused Items" is helpful and seems to do the job of cleaning up the project file and reducing its size. However, under Captivate 12.6.0 there is no completion dialog to inform the user that the function has been completed. A useful dialog might be something like the following:
All unused items have been removed from this project.
48 items were removed, reducing this project file size by 586k.

LMS Score Report
Create a report like in Classic where I can see which slides/objects are reporting a score to the LMS. Sometimes you create a slide with a reportable score, then you duplicate it with the reportable score, and then forget to remove. Hard to keep track. Also show the score values so I can make sure the scores total correctly in my project.

Interaction Report
Create a report like in Classic that shows a list of all the objects and the interactions setup on each type of object by slide throughout the project.

Text block
When long passages of text in a text block are included and you want to change or add something, the cursor jumps every time to the end of the text even though I clicked at the top. I then always have to scroll back up. The text should not jump every time I clicked inside or outside of the text block.

Splash Screen on Startup Covers Everything on My Computer
In most other Adobe Apps, the splash screen on start up (the loading screen with artwork) will pop up, and I am able to look at other things on my computer while it's loading. For some reason, Captivate's splash screen is automatically layered on top of everything else on my computer, so I have to sit and wait for Captivate to slowly start before I can do anything.
It would be great if the splash screen behaved the way it does in other Adobe Applications. Thanks!

Close Project without closing application (And be able to clear cache without active projects open)
Currently when I close a project it automatically ends the entire Captivate Application. This is normally useful, but sometimes I want to close a project and then open another one immediately, rather than having 2 open at once (2 giant captivate projects open at once makes my computer run very slowly). Captivate takes a lot of time to completely reboot, so being able to go back to a 'Home Screen' would make it easier for me to edit quickly. Ideally it would be like Adobe Illustrator, where you can close a project and it will just show the start up…

Bug Report: On a simulation slide, deleting an object such as a clickable box does not delete the interactions for that object
There is a bug on the simulation slides in Captivate 12. If you add an additional click box, and interaction for that click box is automatically populated in the interactions pane. If you delete that click box, it is removed from the timeline, but the interaction remains. I have not yet found a way to delete the interaction.
