TOC Navigation Control Missing in New Adobe Captivate
Issue Summary:
In the new version of Adobe Captivate, Table of Contents (TOC) items are enabled from the beginning, allowing users to skip slides without completing them. This undermines the learning flow and defeats the purpose of structured eLearning.
Expected Behavior:
There should be an option or variable to disable TOC items initially, and enable each item only after the corresponding lesson or slide is completed.
Actual Behavior:All TOC items are accessible from the start.
Learners can skip ahead without engaging with the content.
No built-in setting or variable is available…3 votes -
Fix the TOC Drag and Drop Grouping Feature
We are experiencing inconsistent performance with the TOC editability. It often crashes or does not work. Specifically, when trying to drag slides into groups, we are not able to drop the slide into the group. We also experience crashing occasionally when trying to rename items in the table of contents. We have gotten it to work in one project, but are having inconsistent results with other projects.

TOC - Drag & Drop operation not working properly
The drag and drop features are not working correctly in the TOC. This is happening in 12.4 & 12.5. Create a larger project. Try dragging and dropping TOC items from the bottom of the TOC list to the top. The scroll does not work properly. If you scroll using the mouse wheel, the item you are trying to drop is lost from the drag operation. It seems you can only drop an item a few entries or else it drops in a random place or back in it's original position within the list.

The new Adobe Captivate version lacks a critical feature for eLearning: the ability to restrict the Table of Contents (TOC) and Playbar navigation. In effective eLearning design, it's essential to control access to the TOC and the Next button to ensure learners fully complete each slide before progressing. This functionality was available in Adobe Captivate Classic and is a must-have for tracking learner engagement and completion. Please consider reintroducing this restriction feature in future updates.

TOC Editor Needs Serious Improvement
Changes aren't always saved. Random groups get added. Expanding a group sometimes duplicates it in the TOC. If you have a large image on the first slide, the TOC structure gets compressed in the editor window so nothing can be changed. The window won't resize, the only option seems to be to close the TOC editor window and restart the whole project.

Add a pause button option
Please add the ability to easily add a PLAY/PAUSE button option in variables or slide interactions AND add the option into the TOC. The reason I am asking for BOTH options is that when I have a course that requires learners to view all slides, I need to turn off TOC because it currently allows learners to skip ahead/bypass slides so I need the ability to easily create a button/action allowing learners to pause play on any individual slide. (If I am missing something or there is an easy way to create the button/action - please share!)
