An error occurred while saving the comment Lieve Weymeis commentedVery important for many situations. I used it to allow skipping questions for some learners having already acquired skills, or for using questions in multiple languages in the same project. I just published an example to show the problems when missing Branch aware. You can have a look at:
https://elearning.adobe.com/2024/06/quiz-localisation-in-captivate-12-3/
I am now writing out som blogs for these workflows, and will include links to feature requests like this one hoping to attract more votes.Lieve Weymeis supported this idea · -

An error occurred while saving the comment Lieve Weymeis commentedThat option was indeed available in previous versions both for nresponsive and responsive projects. However for non-responsive projects it was completely useless because it was based on SWF-technology which meant is was not relevant for HTML output. Version 11.8.2 took out all SWF-related features, including those Preview methods. Result is the same as before: you should only use F11, Preview HTML in Browser. The Preview method shows also Project but it is exactly the same F11. Play slide has never been a Preview method, still confusingly under the Preview button.
You are correct however: why not replace those options by HTML preview methods as they are available for responsive projects (Fluid Boxes).
I can only offer two possible workarounds:
1. Activate temporarily the TOC in overlay. You still will have to wait until the full project is rendered but you can use navigation by TOC after the rendering to move more quickly to other slides.
2. Hide temporarily a bunch of slides - if possible (could mess up some relations between slides). -

An error occurred while saving the comment Lieve Weymeis commentedI don't really understand how you assign variables to buttons? Do you mean that you clicked a button and the variable was incremented, or assigned a value?
However I agree with your bug report: user variables of any type are randomly duplicated and you end up with a sequence of identical variables treated in the 'smart labeling' way by adding a number to the original name. The problem is that you cannot know which of those variables is really used when you create a conditonal action later on. The normal debugging way is to insert the variable value in the whole project, but with the loss of timing for the project that means a lot of copy/paste and adding text blocks. I tried to figure out when the duplication occurred, looks to be whenever you use the first variable, but I am not completely sure yet.Lieve Weymeis supported this idea · -

An error occurred while saving the comment Lieve Weymeis commentedOK, I found the reason for this problem and will launch the (rather easy) solution as a tip on social media. Nevertheless, I never expected to (again) start with writing out workarounds for this new version, meant to be so intuitive. If at least I had been able to participate more in the beta, but my AZERTY keyboard was messing up with all prerelease versions except one.
An error occurred while saving the comment Lieve Weymeis commentedPreview of a question slide with multiple answers in Edge, see screenshot. I am on version 12.3.0.12, which is the most recent version AFAIK. I would not log a bug without checking. I will provide you with a list of bugs and missing features after having spent 6 weeks for around 1hr daily to try to have a file with quizzes in two languages. You'll get the final project, once I have solved the last issues with problems on slides which have multiple slide interactions (on Enter and on 2 bookmarks). It is my last hurdle, before I can publish. I am using Win11 on a Surface Pro.
In the Properties it is named 'checkbox' but it is clearly looking like a radio button, see the screenshot.Lieve Weymeis shared this idea · -

An error occurred while saving the comment Lieve Weymeis commentedI don't understand your answer: each conditional action can have only one decision, and you write that duplicating an interaction (which I use a lot) will copy 'decisionS', is this a typo? In all previous versions it was possible to have a sequence of conditional and /or standard actions, which allowed to create sequences with lot of power. I cannot seem to do this in the new version at all. Editing a duplicate is also very cumbersome, how many times do you need to click that pencil icon, instead of editing all at once as was the case with the AA dialog box? I wrote out such a sequence of decisions, which I cannot create anymore. Have a look at this blog post, part of my basic course for advanced actions:
https://blog.lilybiri.com/tip-4-decisions-advanced-slash-shared-actions
I suspect you are missing the meaning of the term 'decision', although that was the official term in the user manual. I always took care to use official terminology when it was available.An error occurred while saving the comment Lieve Weymeis commentedIs it even possible to have multiple decisions? The UI is so confusing, as is the terminology. I start to believe that you can do this only by using JS? Is this true? I tried to create this interaction:
Decision 1
IF v_taal == EN AND Quiz.Pass ==TRUE
Change State of Character to Success
Change State of Title to SuccessNL
Change State of Body to SuccessNLDecision2
IF v_taal == NL AND Quiz.Pass ==TRUE
Change State of Character to Success
Change State of Title to SuccessEN
Change State of Body to SuccessENDecision3
IF v_taal == NL AND Quiz.Pass ==FALSE
Change State of Character to FailNL
Change State of Title to FailNL
Change State of Body to FailNLDecision4.... similar to 3 but for EN
OK, will have to duplicate the slide use one THEN/ELSE for each. Another step backwards.

An error occurred while saving the comment Lieve Weymeis commentedI suspect this is linked with the focus on responsive projects where the layouts are canned for three situations. Crossing my fingers that the promise to have all features available in Captivate Classic reproduced in the new version before they dump the Classic version.

An error occurred while saving the comment Lieve Weymeis commentedIn all previous versions there were project libraries, which could be opened as external libraries in any new project. Moreover since almost a decade I am pleading to have access to the Creative Cloud Libraries for those users who also have a CC license. That access existed in the mobile app Captivate Draft but that app has been dumped.

An error occurred while saving the comment Lieve Weymeis commentedAfter some reflection it does't really matter whether the state is dimmed or not, since as developer you don't have any control over the appearance of the states at all. It is all embedded in the slide templates. In previous versions you could opt to show a hint or not.
I am on version 12.3.0.12.
I will publish my blog about localisation of quizzes soon, including a sample project. It took me weeks to figure out everything, and I don't think the present workflow is an improvement over the workflow in previous versions. I just hope the promise for using AI will be realized soon.An error occurred while saving the comment Lieve Weymeis commentedIt is even getting more confusing. I checked the multistate feedback messages in Review mode, and indeed the Hint state was not dimmed. But when I switched back to Quiz mode, I expected it to be dimmed again but that was not the case. Even when hiding and showing the captions again. What is going on?
An error occurred while saving the comment Lieve Weymeis commentedSorry, I just succeeded at finding the Hint state, because I suddenly did see the number of states. The state is also available for question slides but dimmed always. It is very difficult to get to that 5th state which is normally not visible, and neither my mouse nor the surface pen succeeded at scrolling down. It is a pain everywhere (scrolling) but more here because the scrollbar and the position indicator (green) is so tiny.
So, there is indeed a Hint state, but you cannot choose to take it out for KC slides? Why is this application controlling the developer instead of the reverse? And why do we not have the possibity to include the Hint for a graded slide with multiple attempts? Sorry for my complaints, it is the professor in me speaking again.An error occurred while saving the comment Lieve Weymeis commentedI double-checked when switching from graded to Knowledge check, but cannot find the option to show a Hint? The multistate object for the messages doesn't have a Hint state neither.
I would never use this version for a Software sim in Training/Assessment mode for reasons I have explained multiple times. A software simulation is in its core NON-responsive. But if you include it in a normal project because you always need to add instructions slides, it becomes responsive. That leads to automatic panning and zooming on the sim slides as well, which is definitely unwanted in training and assessment sims. I am in the first place a pedagogical expert. Moreover why would I need to translate the Default labels for a software simulation, when you already have chosen a language to have the capture captions in the correct language? That is not very user friendly and confusing. Do I need to log another feature request?Lieve Weymeis shared this idea · -

An error occurred while saving the comment Lieve Weymeis commentedMany users have signalled this on social media. The automatic pausing at the end of the slide timeline is very annoying and completely different from how Captivate always used to work. This is not a PPT, please!

If this happens because by UI elements it will be limited to the interactive objects, while the settings will not be transmitted to the radiobuttons and checkboxes in quiz slides, this should be mentioned. I like the fact that you now have design control over those quiz elements, but it took me too much time to edit those buttons on each slide, whereas applying a style would have been so much quicker.
If you want me to share a project, which I showed in the eLearning community for a blog about localisation, let me know?. However I don't want to share it publicly, too much has already been stolen from me in the past by other so-called 'experts'.

You'll see that I edited the dark theme a lot.
