Can you confirm if you are on 12.3 version of Captivate?
I tested and even if I hide a slide from TOC , I am able to navigate through all the slides using the playbar.

Usually there is no icon for .bak file. To open it in Captivate, you manually need to remove .bak from the file name and then open it in Captivate.
If you want to change the icon the you can do the right-click on backup file > Properties and then select Adobe Captivate instead of clasic and then it will show the icon for new Captivate.
One possible reason that it is showing the classic icon could be because you might have tried to open it in classic and Windows would have automatically set the backup file icon for Classic.

Go to Help > Updates.

I tested at my end and it seems to be working fine. Is it happening with all the projects (Existing and New both)?
Can you try to reset the preferences and check again?
Prefereneces Reset steps:
1. Closed Captivate.
2. Go to : C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Captivate\utils
3. Run "CleanPreferencesWin.bat"
4. Launch Captiavate and check again. -

Thank you for the feedback. We have logged an ER to add the checkmark color in themes editor.
As a workaround you can try to change the checkmark color from PI.
Steps:
1. Select CheckBox.
2. Go to Properties.
3. Go to Show States.
4. Selected State.
5. From PI, change the checkbox color. -

I am unable to reproduce the issue. Can you try to reset preferences and check again? Also can you also try renaming elearning assests folder and check.

We have improved the performance of SCORM package in 12.3 update which will be available soon. Please updateto 12.3 once available (Tentative next week) and let us know if you still encounter same issue.

Currently show/hide is not available since only responsive design is available and with current template the overlap is not possible hence this option is removed.

Try again option is available. For more than 1 attempt there is another state for Try again.
