When recording audio in Classic Captivate I have the opportunity to calibrate and can see my volume changing with the volume of my laptop.

When recording audio in the New Captivate, while I can calibrate my volume, I don't see any difference on the calibration screen when I change my input volume from my laptop.

The result in the New Captivate is that the audio is too quiet. I then have to go to each slide, individually, and reset the audio to best input in order to hear it. While it's a hassle to update each slide, the bigger problem is I no longer have audio control over my whole project. I cannot confirm that the volume is going to be the same through the whole project going this route. For simulations specifically, I record audio while recording the simulation.
