Create non-responsive projects
My organization has decided against responsive design. They actively discourage people from using non-desktop computer devices to complete training (concern about employees doing it outside of working hours). The new Captivate leaves us in a bind. We need to be able to design static non-responsive projects as we have always done in previous versions of Captivate.
We will likely never switch until this is restored in the product. If it doesn't come before Cp Classic EOL, we will need to find an alternative product.

We also have a catalog of over 700 online courses that we have created and loaded to our LMS (CSOD). These are only run on desktop computers and do not need to be responsive. It is much better for all the use cases of our company to create these courses with fixed images, SVGs, text, and all other assets in one place where we can define the X and Y position of each object and the height and width as well. We purchased the New Captivate for our team of 6 developers a year ago, and we still CANNOT use it to create even a template for rebuilding our courses which will have to be done one at a time. Even if we start now, it will be difficult or impossible to rebuild them all in time for Captivate 2019 to lose Adobe support. Our situation is very similar to what @Drew mentions here. We NEED the ability to have full control over where everything is placed to even get started using the new Captivate. We have just purchased a license for Storyline 360, and we will soon start building some courses in it to see if it can do what we need it to. We have been using Adobe Products since before Adobe bought these from Macromedia, but with the lack of this functionality, we will be forced to move away from it very soon. It is a shame because when we compared Storyline 2 with the current Captivate version years ago, all of my developers sided with Captivate as the better product. Not sure who is managing this product now, but they are out of touch with what course developers need in the product. The nice to haves of responsive design pale in comparison with the importance of being able to create courses launched from an LMS with a set dimension and precise placement and sizing of objects.

I have a significant training catalog of software simulations. My client's system can only operate on desktop computers and therefore the simulations are a fixed size, typically 1800x900px. At these dimensions, the content cannot be resized (responsive) and is unreadable on phones and small tablets. The continuous scrolling and responsive first design focus of the new Cp also leaves me in a bind. I will not be able to use it until a non-responsive fixed canvas sized project option is implemented.

@Randall Sauchuck I've been holding out hope that they will get most of what I need working, but I realize that's probably a pipe dream at this point. I guess more than anything I was just voicing my complete frustration. Articulate is on the table for us at this point.

@Jamie Lyons If you are waiting for Adobe to implement every feature of Captivate Classic then you are wasting your time. Although Articulate products have their limitations I find them better than Captivate (New or Classic) and they seem to have a much better production cycle for updates.

This is almost exactly what my clients (I am a consultant/trainer) proclaim as well. Moreover I am convinced that not every topic can be consumed on mobile devices. That pedagogical side seems not to be considered at all in this new version. Hype terms like 'learning style' 'micro-learning' 'minimalistic design' are more like fashion words, but forego the real goal of all learning assets. Just like the social aspects which are indispensable are ignored as well.

My organization is in the exact same situation. We have hundreds of non-responsive (that need to stay non-responsive) modules that will need to be completely redone. The amount of resources, time, and money this will cost us feels insurmountable. I am trying to come up with workarounds in this version but am coming up short. If I must completely recreate all of my modules, then I might as well pick software that actually has the features I need. In my opinion, this is not even close to a new version of Captivate. It’s a completely different program. I can't wait until Adobe gets all of the current features for Classic working in the new version to make a decision. Although we have years until Classic goes away, we can't even begin to start recreating our modules with the new version the way it is now. After 18 years of using Captivate as our primary software for trainings, we are most likely going to have to find an alternative product.
